To all attendees of November 13-16 AEE CEM Training Seminar:
The requirements to obtain the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation from the Association of Energy Engineers are the following:
Attendance to the November 13-16 CEM Training Seminar, and taking and passing the Examination on November 17th will fulfill requirements (1) and (3) from the foregoing list.
Requirement number (2), the CEM certification application, is a separate application that must be completed by each individual candidate seeking CEM certification, and submitted directly to AEE headquarters per the instructions contained in the CEM application. This application is included in the CEM handbook (pages 11-18) attached below. The CEM certification eligibility requisites are listed on page 2 of the CEM handbook.
Please submit your CEM Certification Application on or before November 3rd, 2017. You do not need to submit all the supporting documentation by this date, just the first four pages of the application (file attached below). Although the instructions on the first page indicate that you must mail or fax the application, you may also email it directly to Mrs. Helen Johnson at Helen@aeecenter.org
Please note that if you already submitted your payment for the exam at the time of registration, you do not need to include payment when submitting your application to AEE Headquarters.
All applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements in order to receive the CEM certification. However, if you do not meet all of requirements at this time, but take and pass the CEM Examination, both the examination and seminar can be used to obtain CEM designation once you fulfill all other eligibility requirements, provided that you do so within six (6) years. Alternatively, you could also apply for the Energy Manager In Training (EMIT) designation, which you would hold until you have met all the requirements to become a Certified Energy Manager. With the EMIT certification you do not need to re-take the seminar or the exam either. The EMIT Certification Application is a one-page document and will be provided during the seminar to those interested in pursuing this option.
Should you have specific questions about the CEM certification application, please contact Mrs. Helen Johnson via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (770) 447-5083 ext. 218. Alternatively, you may also reach out to me, and I’ll answer to the best of my abilities and/or refer you to her if I can’t answer your inquiry.
